Courtyard Chattanooga Downtown

I love Chattanooga. I just do. The Tennessee Aquarium opened while I was in college. I wonder if anyone could have anticipated the change in the downtown over the last 25 years. Being from Nashville, Chattanooga is a quick weekend trip and even with a 17 and 12 year old, it doesn't get old. This trip has a different flair and we are here looking at UTC for our high school junior. Though we aren't visiting the Aquarium on this trip, we decided to stay the night and the Courtyard has been a great treat. We opted for the larger 2 queen with the pull-out. To say the room is spacious is an understatement. A corner room that overlooks the river and Aquarium, we were pleasantly surprised to have a balcony! The staff was incredibly friendly at check-in and the kids had time to swim, even with a 9:30 pm check-in time. They loved getting into the indoor pool and swimming until nearly 11. The hotel has a great evening and family atmosphere. The lobby, though smallish, was filled with kids and families, the bar was hopping and it simply had a great vibe. After swimming we headed upstairs for showers and I was thrilled with how CLEAN the bathroom was, even the little cracks between the floor and the baseboard, which I see missed in many hotels. This morning I was able to take a lovely stroll after picking up Starbucks downstairs and now sit and sip my coffee while waiting for the family to wake up. There's a later check-out time (noon), so we are not rushed! I want to be able to give the hotel 5 stars and they are SO CLOSE. However, we chose this room so that my 17 year old so and 12 year old daughter did not have to sleep with one or another or my husband and I, a sure way for everyone to have a bad night's sleep. This room does have a pull-out. Though I don't expect a plush bed, the mattress on the pull-out has definitely had it's share of sleeps and truly needs to be replaced as it is very saggy and springy. Other than that, it was a great stay. Last thing, beware the city taxes on the hotel and parking, which are very high!
